True Humanitarians

Jimmy the wonder dog is being fostered by our neighbours who are working as labourers at a private household.

The other day, the lady came to my wife Meena and told her, they are going to their home town for 4 days and asked her whether she can take care of Jimmy. Meena agreed without any objection because Jimmy is equally dear to us. The lady said, he has to be fed cooked rice with some cooked chicken or fish and any leftover cooked vegetables twice a day. She also said she will give the rice and chicken. Meena said we can manage everything and it is not necessary for her to take the trouble. Later, the lady came with a vessel full of fresh chicken dry curry and handed it over to Meena.

At this point we ponder that humanity still prevails and more so among the poor class. They may be earning just enough to make ends meet but they are so much concerned about the dog whom they had fostered when he was abandoned by people living in a big household when they vacated their house some years ago!

In a selfish society that expects returns to what is spent on others, it's common to see people feeding mostly those who are full and neglect the needy. Here is some act of real human kindness towards a mute animal who would be otherwise left alone on the streets!

We are flabbergasted to see such a humanitarian act!

That's not only in Bangalore, even here in Mangalore Jayashree.

Few years ago I was close to Prem Chaaya, the animal care organisation. While making a video documentary for them, I saw and heard many stories. They even completely rehabilitated a cute Cocker Spaniel pup that was struck by hip problem due to malnutrition. They designed a sort of roller skate board for it to move, even. After a few months with good food, medical attention and love, that pup became fully fit and charming!
